AHMEDABAD: Around 115 branches of Indian Medical Association - Gujarat State Branch will stage a two-hour dharna on November 16 to protest against government inaction on several issues concerning medical professionals in India. The protests will be organized across all districts of Gujarat from 11am to 1pm, on the same day. The dharna was called off last year in view of favorable assurances from the government.
"The dharna is being organized as a reminder to the government of India to intervene and sort out major issues faced by medical professionals," said DrYogendra Modi, president, IMAGSB and Dr Kamlesh Saini, honorary secretary of the association, in a joint statement.
IMA has sought to suitably amend the Indian Medical Council Act. They have also sought amendments to abolish licence raj and exemption to single-doctor clinics under the Clinical Establishments Act.
