Workshop Held On 6TH March, 2016 At LE MERIDIEN Hotel, New Delhi

REPORT ON NATIONAL SAFE SOUND INITIATIVE (N S S I) WORKSHOP HELD ON 6TH MARCH, 2016 AT LE MERIDIEN HOTEL, NEW DELHI

Dr. K. K. Aggarwal – Hony. General Secretary, Dr. A. Marthanda Pillai – Imme. Past National President, Dr. Ajay Lekhi – Conference Chairman, Dr. S. K. Kacker, Mr. Hamesh Malhotra – Delhi Mayor, Dr. Oak, Dr. Mrs. Samira from Avas Foundation, Dr. Taneja – ENT Surgeon, Dr. C. N. Raja – Convenor, Dr. K. A. Seethi – Chairman - National Safe Sound Initiative, Dr. John Panicker – Secretary – National Safe Sound Initiative, State Presidents and Secretaries of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh attended this Workshop.

Dr. K. K. Aggarwal – Hony. General Secretary told this initiative should be taken by every doctor through IMA and this should be a House Hold Activity.

Dr. K. A. Seethi – Chairman – National Safe Sound Initiative thanked, Dr. Ajay Lekhi for organizing such a wonderful meeting.

Dr. John Panicker – Secretary – National Safe Sound Initiative wanted this initiative should be implemented at every State and City by the concerned IMA Branches effectively.  He presented about the problems and effects of Noise Pollution in detail.

Dr. S. K. Kacker presented about the problems of Noise Pollution at the public at large.

Delhi Mayor – Mr. Hamesh Malhotra stressed the importance of legislations of Noise Pollution.

Dr. K. K. Aggarwal – Hony. General Secretary announced 3rd March as “IMA SAFE SOUND DAY”.  We thank him for the same.  He also stressed the importance of measuring the noise to be made as a compulsory one at every event and he asked guidelines to be made to curtail the Noise Pollution.  Also, he wanted P I L to be filed legally.  He is stressed the importance of educating the public and children. 

Dr. A. Marthanda Pillai – Imme. Past National President wanted to make some solid steps by interacting with the Public, Officials, Religious Leaders and other barbarians and form a committee at every State, District and Town.

Dr. Oak enlisted a legal battle against Noise Pollution.

Dr. Mrs. Samira told that Mumbai is the noisiest place in the world.  Policemen are worst affected with Noise Pollution.  Mapping of the Noisy Places in the State to be done.  Honking Horn is a disaster and presented a video on that.

Dr. Taneja explained the basic effects of Drugs on hearing and also shown yoga model and life style modification to prevent the hearing loss. 

Dr. C. N. Raja – Convenor wanted to involve in medicos as Administrator to make awareness among the public.  He also stressed the importance of measuring the Noise Pollution at various industries by involving NGOs and make confederation of Indian Industry.

We decided to come out with solid policies, protocols with the help of IMA and Association of Otolaryngologists of India and other NGOs to press upon the Government to come down with the strong legal implementation of Noise Pollution.
