IMa is the largest organisation of modern medicine doctors. Medical profession in India is going through a turbulent phase. Issues affecting the medical fraternity and inappropriate responses from Governments affect the Health of the people. Doctor Patient relationship is on a low ebb and a trust deficit exists between today's doctor and today's patient.

One of the main issues confronting the medical profession today is National Medical Commission Bill. This bill has the potential to change the character of medical education and healthcare delivery in this country adversely. Irrevocable damage might occur in public Health from which the nation may take few generations to recover. This bill promotes crosspathy and quackery. Medical education will have pro rich reservation. This anti people legislation will make medical education expensive and make it difficult for economically and socially backward sections of the society to access. Clinical Establishments Act and violence on doctors and hospitals are some of the other issues.

IMA National President Dr Ravi Wankhedkar an eminent surgeon is embarking on a nation wide 'IMA Bharat Yatra at sunrise on 25/02/2018 from Gandhi Mantapam, Kanyakumari. CONNECT WITH SOCIETY and CONSOLIDATE THE FRATERNITY is the theme of the IMA Yatra. Simultaneously yatras will be flagged off from Jammu, Imphal, Ajmer, Kolkatta and Dwaraka. Other leaders of IMA will travel to the nooks and corners of the country creating awareness. 1700 Local branches of IMA will conduct cycle rally in their towns on 11/02/2018. Four streams of cycle yathras will begin from all the directions of the country to converge on Delhi on 25/03/2018. IMA National President will journey through all the states of the country and arrive in Delhi on 25/03/2018. Thousands of modern medicine doctors will join him in Doctors Maha Panchayat on that day.

The issues concerning of Health and the medical profession will be placed before the Maha Panchayat. NMC bill is expected to top the agenda. Maha Panchayat will announce its decisions and further course of action.
